A E Upton, farmer, stock-raiser and feeder, Sec 10 P O Ogden, was born in Massachusetts, February 18, 1837, and remained there until fourteen years of age, when his mother moved to Rutland county, Vermont, and here has was raised, Mr Upton Sr, died in 1843, and the care of our subject was left to his mother, in 1855 he moved to Rock county, Wisconsin, and remained there for about nine years, then moving to Stephenson county, Illinois, in the fall of 1871 he settled on his present farm of 320 acres, now in a high state of cultivation, he was married June 30, 1867, to Miss H M De Late, a native of Maine, and born in 1849, they have a family of three children: Charles A, George H and Leon L, Mr Upton is a successful stock-raiser and feeder, he has filled various township offices, was resent at the organization of the township and voted a the first election after its organization
