If you were born before 1950 in the USA you may find yourself on the 1950 Census that has recently been released to the public. Efforts are underway by volunteers and commercial companies to index the census to make searching easier. The Census Bureau has used machine indexing which is about 60 % accurate. Volunteers at Familysearch.org (free) are searching home towns, counties and states at about 98% accuracy. I cannot evaluate Ancestry.com the major Commercial genealogy site. I found my family but it took some doing as the census taker miss-spelled our name. It sure beats playing Bingo at the Senior Center. Iowa name checking is complete and soon we will be able to search for family.
