Hi Marsha,
After a quest by myself and my daughter, we believe we have found John's home in 1900. After comparing many maps over the last 110 years, we believe the current address of John's house is 4235 W. Shaulis Road at the junction with Butterfield. The house at that location was supposedly built in 1920 so after your John was gone. Additionally the original 160 acres was split into the small square around this house, a larger portion to the south with a new house or big barn on it, with the balance in crop ground north of the creek which ran across his property. So 4 parcels from his quarter section.

John had 160 acres in Section 14 of Black Hawk Twp where he was a farmer and stock raiser specializing in draft horses which I found most interesting. I can email the screen shots I took of these areas if you would like?
