Obituary for Larry Eugene Evans
Larry Eugene Evans, age 75, passed away Sunday morning, December 30, at his home in Cedar Falls, Iowa, after a long battle with cancer.
He was born to parents Robert and Dorothy (Kelley) Evans on December 9, 1943, in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Larry graduated from Cedar Falls High School in the class of 1963, worked at Construction Machinery Company (CMC) and retired from Cedar Falls Community Schools. He also worked a contractor, renovating several homes in Waterloo and Cedar Falls. On February 14, 1988, he married Lisa Hopkins in Waterloo.
Larry is survived by: his wife, Lisa; daughter, Lori (Robert) Larsen of Valrico, FL; son, Gregg of Cedar Falls; granddaughter, Ashley Larsen of Ellicott City, MD; grandson, Bryce Larsen of Cambridge, MA; three brothers, Bob Evans of Cedar Falls, Gary (Terri) Evans of Cedar Falls, and Kent Evans of Allison; three sisters, Karen Katzenmeyer of Billings, MO, Pam Schneiderman of Allison, and Gina (Tom) Leonard of New Hampton; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Jocko.
Preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Steve Evans.
Larry’s funeral service will be 11:00am Friday, January 4, at Richardson Funeral Service, Cedar Falls. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00pm Thursday at Richardson’s. Interment will be in Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens.
Memorials may be directed to the family.Larry was known for his big heart. He loved people and always accepted everyone for who they were. He was a loving husband and father always supportive and present. He believed family was always most important. He died in the house he loved, in the city he loved and grew up in. There will forever be a hole in the hearts of those lives he touched, whether family, friend, or neighbor.
