Obituary for Virginia G. Aneweer

Virginia Grace Schmidt, daughter of George Albert Schmidt and Callie Marie Johnson of South Dakota died Saturday July 7th at her daughter’s home at the age of 88 years old.

Virginia grew up in Grundy Center and Janesville with her many siblings and graduated from Cedar Falls High School. She played a feisty basketball game, loved to swim and throughout life demonstrated her talent and love of music.

She was United in marriage to Raymond Earl Aneweer at The Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa on July 4th, 1948.

Ginny made many friends through her kindness and humor while working downtown Cedar Falls at Webbeking Bakery and later at Cedar Falls Maidrite.

Ray & Virginia built their home together in North Cedar Falls where they were always surrounded by friends and family. They tragically lost both of their beloved sons Dennis & Rodney, but she kept her faith, positive outlook and shining spirit throughout her life.

She was a fun-loving mother, a devoted wife and friend. She will be missed dearly and kept always in many hearts. Truly "Our Gift from God".

Survived by a daughter, Dawn Aneweer; a sister, Esther (Eldon) Magnuson of South Dakota; a brother, Merlin “Mouse” (Shirley) Schmidt of Elk Run Heights; a sister-in-law, Bonnie Stevens of Cedar Falls; and a brother-in-law, Roger (Anna Mae) Aneweer of Odebolt.

Virginia was preceded in death by her sons, Dennis and Rodney; husband, Ray; a sister, Doris Jakoby of Cedar Falls; brothers, Raymond of South Dakota, Harold of North Carolina, Cecil of Waterloo, Louis of Waterloo, Clifford of Cedar Falls.

Memorial Services: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 28th at Richardson Funeral Service with inurnment taking place prior to the service at 9 a.m. in Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens, both in Cedar Falls.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
