NEW HARTFORD, IOWA – H. Loretta Corwin, 74, of New Hartford died Sunday, July 8, 2018 at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.

Loretta was born August 5, 1943 in Oelwein, Iowa, daughter of Raymond and Emma (Petet) Porath. She married Richard Corwin on August 10, 1963 at the United Methodist Church in Shell Rock.

She attended Finchford Community School and graduated from Waverly High School. She worked at Henke Manufacturing in Janesville and operated a home ceramic business for several years. Later, she and her husband owned and operated their own business, Corn Belt Builders and Realty for 30 years. She did designing and estimating for the business until her passing.

She is urvived by her husband of New Hartford; a son, Cory (Emily) Corwin of New Hartford; a daughter, Patty (Bill) Nelson of Cedar Falls; three grandsons, Michael and Nicholas Nelson and Levi (Samantha) Pratt; a great-granddaughter, Hallie Pratt; three brothers, Leo Porath of Kansas City, KS, Cleo (Mary) Porath of Janesville and Greg (Jodi) Porath of Michigan; a sister, Ellen (Dennis) Hundley of Cedar Falls; and several foster children.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a son, Michael Grant Corwin.

Memorial Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church in New Hartford with inurnment at a later date in Greenwood Cemetery, Cedar Falls. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday AT THE CHURCH. Richardson Funeral Service is assisting the family.

Memorials may be directed to the church.

A very loving wife, mother, and grandmother, she loved nothing more than spending time with her family, especially her great granddaughter, Hallie. She enjoyed riding around in her buggy, fishing in her pond, and sitting outside watching all the birds in her yard. The couple were foster parents for 25 years.
