CEDAR FALLS, IOWA – Betty Nyberg Newport, 99, of Cedar Falls died Sunday, July 8, 2018 at the Western Home Communities – Windhaven.

She was born July 10, 1918 in Peoria, Illinois, daughter of Frank and Eleanor (Kirk) Dixon. She married Lawrence Nyberg on November 23, 1938 in Peoria and he preceded her in death on May 29, 1999. She then married Wayne Newport on October 2, 1999 in Davenport. He preceded her in death on February 20, 2005.

Survived by: a son, Roger (Arlene) Nyberg of Urbandale; a daughter, Paula (Dale) Schrad of Cedar Falls; four grandchildren: Daniel (Angela), Mark (Jennifer), Kent (Heidi) Schrad, and Annie Nyberg; ten great grandchildren: Benjamin, Adam, Grace, Alexander, Sophia, Helena, Angelina, Gage, Isabella and Gavin; and a sister, Virginia Kiefer of Harbor City, CA.

Preceded in death by a sister, Doris MacInnes.

Memorial Services: 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 13th at Western Home Communities-Windhaven with inurnment in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday at Richardson Funeral Service, Cedar Falls, and also for one hour prior to the service at Windhaven.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

Betty was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved to dance, play bridge and be with many friends and her family.
