She graduated from Johnstown Westmont High School and Cornell University at Ithaca, NY in 1949. She served on the local United Way board. Nancy was active all her life in the Presbyterian Church, serving in a number of capacities over the years.

She loved classical music, played piano from youth, played oboe in the Johnstown Orchestra, and sang in vocal groups. Lap swimming was a satisfying regular activity.
