William Bryan "Bill" Butcher

August 4, 1931 - May 2, 2018

William Bryan “Bill” Butcher, 86, of Waterloo, Iowa, died Tuesday, May 2, 2018m at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo.

He was born August 4, 1931 in Carroll, Iowa son of William Bryan Jennings and Josephine Katherine Ambs Butcher. He married Ilene Mae Reagan on March 12, 1950, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waterloo.

Bill was a veteran of the United States Army. After his service, he went on to work for Titus Manufacturing where he stayed for 21 years. He then became employed with John Deere where he remained until his retirement.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years: a daughter, Candace (Jeff) Elenz of Waverly; a son, Bryan Butcher of Gulf Shores, Ala.; four grandchildren: Jordan Elenz of Plymouth, Minn., Zachary Elenz of West Des Moines, Kayla (John) Sullivan of Gulf Shores, Ala., and Nicole Butcher of Waverly.

Preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Butcher and a sister, Josephine Hooper.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 7, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls with burial at Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery, where full military rites will be conducted by the Cedar Falls Amvets Post 49 and the Iowa Army Honor Guard. Public Visitation will be from 2-5 p.m. Sunday, May 6 at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway. Visitation will continue for one hour before services at the church on Monday.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice or Immanuel Lutheran Church.
