Donald E. “D.J.” Jirak, 71, of Elk Run Heights, died Thursday, December 7, at UnityPoint Health Allen Hospital.

He was born March 14, 1946, in Waterloo, the son of George and Pearl McCloud Jirak. He married Kristy Turner on July 12, 1980, in Maynard.

Donald was employed as a retail manager in local grocery stores for many years.

Survivors include his wife, Kristy of Elk Run Heights; his brother, Larry of Waterloo; his sister-in-law, Janet Jirak of Waterloo; his niece, Faye (Ken) Graham of Waterloo; and his nephew, Joseph Jirak of Cedar Rapids.

Preceded in death by his parents; and by his brother, James Jirak.

Services: 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 11, at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Public visitation from 1-5 p.m. Sunday and also one hour prior to services Monday at the funeral home.
