Obituary for Patrick G. Kramer

WATERLOO,IOWA – Patrick G. Kramer, 86, of Waterloo, died Monday, October 2, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home.

He was born April 23, 1931 in Waterloo, son of Charles and Marguerite Keniry Kramer. He married Rita Juergens on August 15, 1959 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Waterloo.

Pat graduated from Our Lady of Victory Academy and Loras College in Dubuque. He was a teacher and basketball coach at Dysart and Lawler for eight years and was employed with Titus Manufacturing Company for 10 years and Waterloo Industries for 24 years, retiring in 1993. He was a Black Hawk County official in the Waterloo area for many years. Pat was also a life member of the Elks club and Knights of Columbus, held the position of President for the Lions Club and was a long time member of the St. Edwards Resurrection choir.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Charles Kramer of Waterloo and Pete (Lori) Kramer of Naperville, Illinois; three daughters: Sara (Scott) Winke of Aurora, Colorado, Mary Pat Kramer and Jane Herrera (Ellen), both of Waterloo; four grandsons: Tyler Winke of Brooklyn, New York, Ryan Winke of Aurora, Colorado and Nick and Aidan Kramer of Naperville, Illinois; and three sisters: Sr. Dolores Kramer, BVM of Dubuque, Joan (Dick) Ford of Des Moines and Lois Wagenkneht of Branson, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 9, at St. Edward’s Catholic Church with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, where full military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 138, Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 1623 and the Iowa Army Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct 8, at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, where there will be a 4:00 p.m. 3rd and 4th degree Knights of Columbus rosary and a 7:00 p.m. vigil service. Visitation will continue at the church for an hour before services on Monday.

Pat had a passion for music, golf, the Iowa Hawkeyes and his family.
