January 9, 1924 - September 23, 2017

Virginia E. Hartz, 93, of Waterloo, Iowa, died Saturday September 23, 2017, at her home surrounded by her loving and adoring family.

She was born January 9, 1924, in Waterloo, daughter of Frank and Rosalyn Fisher Kendrick.

She married Carl R. “Bob” Hartz September 1, 1944 in Montgomery, Ala. He died October 4, 2006.

Virginia graduated from Sacred Heart School, Waterloo, in 1941. Her life occupation was as loving wife, mother and grand/great-grandmother.

She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.

She is survived by three sons: Michael (Janice) of Cedar Falls, Patrick (Janola) of Chariton, and Timothy (Catherine) of Cedar Falls; seven grandchildren, Michelle (Jack) Hartz, Chad (Jennifer) Hartz, Chanelle (Lucas) Thoma, Kris (Heather) Hartz, Neil (Kamryn) Hartz, Bridget (Tim) Bakula, Dan Hartz; and 13 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Thomas Kendrick of Waterloo and Jack (Sandi) Kendrick of Cape Coral, Fla.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by: her husband; a son, Jon T. Hartz; her sister, Rosemary McCombs; and four brothers, William, Stanley, Robert and Richard Kendrick.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 29 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with entombment in Mt. Olivet Mausoleum. Public visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 28 at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, where there will be a 7 p.m. vigil. Visitation will continue for one hour before services at the church.

Memorials: directed to Blessed Sacrament Church or Unity Point Hospice.
