Biography--

Brad was born March 28, 1966 in Waterloo, the son of Larry and Paula Iehl Nielsen. He graduated from Central High School in 1984 and attended UNI.

He was very intelligent and had an expansive knowledge of almost everything some of which came from reading a lot. Brad loved animals and was a very hard worker, whether at Casey’s around the house, or in his garden, or spending time checking in on and helping his family.

Brad was an exceptional hockey player. He was a goal tender in semi-pro leagues having the chance to play for San Jose. From this he enjoyed rollerblading and skating the local trails with Andy.

Brad’s survivors include his son Andrew (Fernando) Nielsen of Chicago, Illinois; a daughter Amanda Tyler; his parents Larry and Paula Nielsen of Waterloo; his significant other Crystal Cox and her son Eric of Waterloo; a step grandfather Edwin Biersner of Hemet, California; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and his dog, Katie.
