Biography--

Roger Klemz, 83, of Cedar Falls, formerly of Waterloo, died Saturday, September 16, 2017 at Pinnacle Specialty Care in Cedar Falls.

He was born March 12, 1934 in Rural Cedar Falls, son of Karl and Clara Bartling Klemz. He married Norma Beth Steere on March 4, 1961 at St. Paul's Evangelical Reformed Church, rural Denver, Iowa. She died September 26, 2014.

Roger graduated from Janesville High School in 1952. He worked for various local manufacturing companies and retired in 2013. Roger served in the United States Army from 1954-1956, receiving an honorable discharge. He was a member of the June 16, 2015 Honor Flight. He attended Prairie Lakes Church in Cedar Falls and was an avid bicyclist.

Roger is survived by a daughter, Melanie (Rodger) Klemz‑Smith of Waterloo; a son, Mark Klemz of Clear Lake, IA; eight grandchildren, Jared, Joshua, Stephanie, Jonathan, Ashley, Meranda, Trent and Tanner; two great-granddaughters, Mackenzie and Kaylee, and a brother, Don (Joyce) Klemz of Darien, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife; a brother, Floyd Klemz, and a sister, Lorraine Payne Mosley.

Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at Locke Funeral Home

Cemetery:
Garden of Memories Cemetery.
Military honors will be conducted by Iowa Army National Guard Funeral Honors Detail, Waterloo AMVETS Post 19 and Evansdale AMVETS Post 31.
