Obituary for Virginia M. Beckman

Virginia M. Beckman, 94 of Waterloo, died Saturday, Sept. 2 at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home.

She was born June 18, 1923 in Anita, Iowa, daughter of Marion and Olive Baumgardner Walker. She married Victor H. Beckman Oct. 22, 1945 in St. Paul, Minn.. He died April 26, 1974

After graduating high school, Virginia taught country school for four years. She also worked for the telephone company in New Hampton and the West Ridgeway Ben Franklin Store for many years, retiring in 1993.

Survived by: two sons, Joel of Fayette and Chris (Marie) Beckman of Waterloo; two daughters, Linda (Ron) Wagner of Waterloo and Jane (Jack) Barker of Clifton, Va.; six grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Forrest (Shirley) Walker of Minden, Iowa and Kelly (Betty) Walker of Rose Valley, Pennsylvania; a sister Phyllis Hensley of Burnet, Texas.

Preceded in death by: her husband; two brothers, Howard and Marion, Jr.; three sisters, Lillian Wedemeyer, Dorothy Yoder and Betty Johnston.

Private Family Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6 at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers: memorials may be directed to St. Ansgar Lutheran Church.
