Biography--

Dale Holub, 77, of Waterloo, Iowa, died Monday, September 11, 2017 at Westbrook Acres in Gladbrook of Alzheimer’s Disease.

He was born on June 18, 1940 in Protivin, Iowa, son of Adolph Elmer and Dorothy Edna Pierce Holub. Dale served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from 1963 until his honorable discharge in 1965.

Dale married Mary Cable on August 31, 1963 in Preston, Minnesota.

He worked for John Deere as a screw machine operator, retiring in 1989 after 30 years. He was a member of UAW Local #838, Cedar Falls AmVets Post #49, previously a member of Cedar Falls United Methodist Church and more recently attended Waterloo First United Methodist Church and Kimball Avenue United Methodist Church.

After retirement, Dale kept very busy as a handyman. He also enjoyed fishing in Iowa and Minnesota.

Survivors include his wife, Mary; a daughter, Julie Holub of Waterloo; two sons, Gary of Independence and Scott (Julie) of Clarksville; 8 grandchildren: Ashley (Justin Hoffman) Holub, Amber (Tom) Moreland, Kris Lawrence, Cody Holub, Bryce Holub, Madeline Holub, Makayla Holub, and Dawson Holub; six great-grandchildren: Corbin and Cale Moreland, Lily and Sirus Lawrence, Analise Porcic, and Mahliah Hoffman; two sisters, Judy Westberg of Bonner, MT and Connie (Gilbert) Wendl of Charles City; and a brother, Wayne of Pecatonica, IL.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents.
