Biography--

Dirkle D. “Dirk” Christensen, age 72, of Waterloo, died Monday, August 28, 2017 at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids.

He was born July 30, 1945 in New Hampton, Iowa the son of Ronald Paul and Jeanette Helen (Fisher) Christensen.

Dirk was united in marriage with Beverly K. Gaden on February 10, 1968 in Waterloo. They were married for 17 years and divorced in 1985.

Dirk began his career working for the City of Waterloo Planning Commission and later Winnebago Industries in Forest City as a draftsman. He was very proud that he assisted in the final design for the 1972 Winnebago Chieftain. Dirk was a veteran, serving his country in the US Navy during the Vietnam War.

Survivors include his three children: Heather (Evan) Marshall of Nixa, MO, Ryan Christensen of Rickardsville, IA and LeAnne (Jeremy) Crow of Nixa, MO; five grandchildren: Amara and Fiona Marshall, Sofia Christensen, Lucas and Levi Crow; a sister, Cheryl (Mike) Costello of Waterloo and a niece, Rhonda (Bernie) Weber of Dike, IA.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
