Thursday, August 24, 2017 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church

Visitation:
Wednesday, August 23, at Kearns Funeral Service Kimball Chapel; with 4:00 PM rosary service and 6:00 PM vigil service at the funeral home; and also one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church.

Cemetery:
Poyner Township Cemetery; with military honors to be accorded by Gilbertville Nugent-Demuth American Legion Post #714.

Biography--

Bernard E. “Bernie” Neith, age 82, of Evansdale, and recent resident of ManorCare, died at UnityPoint Health Allen Hospital in Waterloo on August 19, 2017.

He was born on August 15, 1935 in Waterloo; son of Frank Alvin & Anna Elizabeth (Steffen) Neith. He served in the U.S. Navy until his honorable discharge.

He married Patricia Jean Ralls, September 28, 1957, in Evansdale. Bernie worked as a machinist at John Deere Company for 30 years, retiring in 1989.

He was a former member of St. Nicolas Parish until its closing, he later became a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Gilbertville. Bernie loved fishing and he was a jack of all trades.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Neith; a daughter, Cindy (Michael) Crow of San Antonio, TX; two sons, Mark (Cindy Kay) Neith of Evansdale and Thom (Lynn) Neith of Goodyear, AZ; six grandchildren, Carrie (Al) Yu, Jason (Sarah) Neith, Nicole (Greg) Caldwell, Ryan Neith, Mitchell (Olivia) Cross, and Emily Cross; nine great-grandchildren, Collin, Ethan, Eric, David, Mila, Natalia, James, Za, and Ronin; and a sister, Vivian Allen of Waterloo.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Donald, Claude and Robert Neith.
