Funeral Services will be 10:30am on Friday, August 11, 2017 at St. Ansgar Lutheran Church, 1122 W. 11th St, Waterloo, IA 50702 with military honors by American Legion Post #138, VFW #1623 and Iowa Army National Guard Honors

Visitation:
will be 4:00 to 7:00 pm Thursday, August 10, 2017 at Locke Funeral Home and an hour prior to services Friday at the St. Ansgar Lutheran Church

Biography-

Larry M. Cunningham, 78, of Waterloo, died Monday, Aug. 7, at Brinker Lake in his boat while fishing, from complications of a heart attack.

He was born Aug. 7, 1939, in Waterloo, son of Marlowe and Helen Mahoney Cunningham. He married Barbara Held on Feb. 13, 1962, at Waterloo First United Methodist Church.

Larry graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1957 and attended the University of Northern Iowa. He had managed Wishbone Restaurant, then worked at John Deere for five years. He became a surveyor for the city of Waterloo and later was superintendent of the city's Municipal Garage, retiring in 2000. He served in the U.S. Army from 1961-64.

Larry was a member of St. Ansgar Lutheran Church and the Waterloo American Legion Post 138.

Survived by his wife; a daughter, Lisa (Leroy) Burke of Baltimore; a grandson, Roger (Tishanna) Burke of Yuba City, Calif.; and honorary granddaughters, Amy Kroblin and Michaela Cox.

Preceded in death by his parents.
