Obituary for Wayne E. Meyerhoff

Waterloo - Wayne E. Meyerhoff, 84, of Waterloo, Iowa, died Wednesday, July 26 at the Western Home, Martin Center in Cedar Falls, Iowa.

He was born October 23, 1932 in rural Bremer County, Readlyn, son of Erwin and Amanda Warneke Meyerhoff. He married Susan K. Weidemann June 16, 1963 at St. John Lutheran Church in Sumner.

Wayne was involved in sales most of his life and enjoyed woodworking, doing most of the renovations on his home. He was a US Army veteran and was a member of the Becker-Chapman American Legion Post 138.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Todd (Val) Meyerhoff of Waterloo; two daughters, Sherri (Brian) Becker and Kristine Davies, both of Cedar Rapids; seven grandchildren, Morgan (Andy) Thurman of Geneseo, Ill., Brittany (Bryce) Davie of Grundy Center, Michael (Mollie Rogers) Meyerhoff and Carter Meyerhoff of Waterloo, Daniel W. (Krystin Miller) Davies of Mechanicsville, Aly Becker of Cedar Rapids and Melissa (Nate) Dains of Stanwood; four great-grandchildren, Vincent and Imogen Thurman, Brayden Meyerhoff and Burkley Davie; a sister, Verla (Duane) Buenzow of Edinburg, Texas; a brother, Ronald (Annette) Meyerhoff of Cloudcroft, N.M.; nieces and nephews and Daniel R. Davies of Mechanicsville.

Preceded in death by his parents and nephews, Adam and Aaron Meyerhoff.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Evansdale with burial in Waterloo Cemetery where full military rites will be conducted by the Iowa Army Honor Guard, American Legion Post 138 and VFW Post 1623.

Public visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Sunday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway and for an hour before services at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the Western Home Martin Center or Prince of Peace Lutheran Church.
