Biography--

Phyllis M. Carlson, 81, of La Porte City, died Sunday, July 16, 2017 at her home.

She was born February 18, 1936, in Oskaloosa the daughter of Everett and Naomi (Love) Smith. She married Frank D. Carlson February 22, 1952 in Oskaloosa; he preceded her in death on November 25, 2012.

She and her husband owned/operated La Porte City Thriftway Grocery Store from 1972 until retirement in 1996.

Survived by: two sons, Jack (Vic) Carlson of Gilbertville, Frank (Patti) Carlson of La Porte City; three daughters, Kathy (Randy) Wagner of Brandon, Connie (Mike) Bolt of Robins, Joan (Randy) Sherwood of La Porte City; eleven grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marcia (Larry) Worrall of Arvada, Colorado and Janet (Terry) Smith of Eddyville.

Preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; four brothers, Warren, Don, Wendell, and Kenny Smith and two sisters, Peggy Smith and Karen Brucklander.
