Biography--

Sandra Kay “Sandy” Reiser, 76, of Washburn, died Monday, July 17, 2017 at Cedar Valley Hospice Home.

Sandy was born September 15, 1940, in Wapello, Iowa, the daughter of Lester and Hannah “Fern” (Reinier) Messer. She graduated from Wapello High School with the Class of 1958, where she was active in band and excelled at playing the trumpet. Sandy also attended Iowa State Teacher’s College (UNI).

She was united in marriage with James “Jim” Reiser on September 5, 1959 in Wapello.

Sandy began her career at Rath Packing Co. and retired from Allen Memorial Hospital after 19 years of service in the human resources department. She was an avid flower gardener and knew the names of each of the different kinds of flowers in her garden. Sandy loved being outside and enjoyed hunting and fishing with Jim.

Survivors include her husband, Jim of Washburn; her mother, Fern Messer of Davenport, Iowa; two sisters, Patricia Bartenhagen of Davenport and Linda Parrish of Pinellas Park, FL; a brother-in-law, Dick (Carol) Reiser of Gilbertville and numerous nieces and nephews.

Sandy was preceded in death by her father; her two sons, Tony and Kevin Reiser; and a granddaughter, Ashley Reiser.
