Services:
Celebration of Life services will be 5:00 p.m. Wednesday July 19, 2017 at Hope City Church, 118 High Street, Waterloo.

Visitation:
Visitation will be 4:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Kearns Funeral Service Kimball Avenue.

Memorials:
Memorials may be directed to Pat Thompson, and she will direct them to the kidney/pancreas transplant unit at the Mayo Clinic for research.

Biography--

Kenneth R. “Kenny” Thompson, 68, of Waterloo, formerly of New Hampton, died Friday, July 14, 2017, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota.

He was born December 28, 1948, in New Hampton, Iowa, the son of Raymond and Alice (Munson) Thompson. He married Debra Lynn Faulkner June 28, 1969 in Waterloo, and they were later divorced. He then married Patsy “Pat” Shirley July 2, 1994, in the Little Brown Church in Nashua.

Kenny graduated from New Hampton High School in 1967 and then from NIACC in Mason City. Mr. Thompson was employed at Rath Packing Company and John Deere & Company. He was the owner of City & Farm Home Improvements, doing home improvements for 30 years. He was also a real estate investor for over 30 years. Kenny was the founder of Cedar Valley Bass Masters and served as president many years. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, golfer and all around outdoorsman. Kenny was a jokester, and always upbeat and positive.

He is survived by his wife, Pat of Waterloo; one son, Matthew (Angela) Thompson of Marion; one stepson, Randy of Edmond, Oklahoma; two daughters, Crystal (Kelly) Bilyeu of Edmond, Oklahoma, and Angela (Quovadis) Marshall of Waterloo; a sister, Marcia (Larry) Pitzenberger of New Hampton; eight grandchildren, Tyler, Kaylee, Jonathan, Keenan, Alyssa, Brandon, Brooke, Ryan and Devin; and three great grandchildren, Brooklynn, Aubree, Nevaeh, and Ryleigh.

Kenny was preceded in death by his parents; and by one brother, Gene Thompson.
