Biography--

Mary Minnie Pecenka, 88, of Waterloo, died Thursday, July 13, 2017 at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home.

Mary was born in New Hartford, Iowa on June 13, 1929, daughter of Andrew E. and Minnie (Huisman) Ahrenholz. She married Robert George Pecenka; he preceded her in death.

She worked at the Assink Bros. Quarry in Cedar Falls, and then at Basic Materials Corp. in Raymond for 48 years, before retiring at the age of 87. She and her husband enjoyed taking trips to Bullhead City, AZ and she liked to go to the casino.

Mary is survived by: a daughter, Sherrie Banker of Waterloo and two sons: Bill (Shirley) Pecenka of Prairie du Chien, WI and Steve Pecenka of Waterloo; 19 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Robert; a daughter, Connie Fischels; and three brothers: Marv, Andrew “Jr.” and Bill Ahrenholz.
