Roger Don Nunemaker

Roger Don Nunemaker was born on August 25, 1941, in Washington, Iowa, son of Maurice and Violet (May) Nunemaker, they later moved to Mason City. He graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1959.

On April 4, 1964, Roger was united in marriage to Sandie Brand at Zion Lutheran Church in Waterloo. Roger worked as a mechanic at John Deere for 30 years. Roger enjoyed fishing, golfing, washing and working on his old cars, and loved bird watching. He was very meticulous too -— always tending to his yard to ensure it stayed dandelion free. Roger also loved going to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s activities. He wasn’t a very outgoing person, but he was great with faces and enjoyed striking up conversations with those he met while out. He was a very caring man.

On July 4, 2017, Roger was under Cedar Valley Hospice’s care before he passed away at UPH-Allen Memorial Hospital at the age of 75 years old.

He was preceded in death by his parents and father, Helmuth Zuehlke.

Roger is survived by his wife; a daughter, Shawn (Tom) Nunemaker; two sons, Todd (Brenda) and Tracy Sr. Nunemaker; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Eileen Kloster of Newton, KS, and Joy (Harlan) Helps of Mason City, Iowa; and a brother, Ronald Zuehlke of Cedar Falls, Iowa.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
