June 23, 1980 - June 21, 2017

CEDAR FALLS, IOWA – Grant Michael Hornung, 36, of Cedar Falls died June 21, 2017 of natural causes.

He was born June 23, 1980 in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Wayne and Lory (Brinkmeyer) Hornung. He married Sherry Schultz in 2006, and they later divorced. To that union was born a daughter, Klara Kay, now 11 years old.

Grant graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1998 and earned his BA in History from the University of Northern Iowa in 2009. He worked at Kaplan University in Cedar Falls as an Admissions Counselor and most recently for Almon as a Technical Writer at John Deere Waterloo.

An avid sports fan, Grant enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers and St. Louis Cardinals teams. Grant will be missed by all.

He is survived by his daughter, Klara Kay Hornung of Cedar Falls; father and step-mother, Wayne and Carol Hornung of Cedar Falls; a sister, Kristin Hornung of Cedar Falls; two step brothers, Jason and Matt Seaton of Kingsport, TN; a step sister, Kim (Corey) Roberts of Williamsburg; aunts, uncles and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother; and by his maternal and paternal grandparents.

Private family services will be held Saturday, June 24th. Richardson Funeral Service, Cedar Falls, is assisting the family.
