Leslie "Les" Dempster

October 27, 1946 - June 21, 2017

CEDAR FALLS, IOWA – Leslie “Les” Dempster, 70, of Cedar Falls, died Wednesday, June 21, 2017, at Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls.

He was born October 27, 1946, in Cedar Falls, son of Edwin and Juanita (Seamans) Dempster. He married Janet Kline in 1967 and later divorced. He married Fran Ryan in 1978 and later divorced. He then married Patti King in 1984.

He graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1964 and was a police officer in Hudson from 1970 to 1972 and then Cedar Falls from 1972 until retiring in 1997. He then was a commercial charter pilot with Niederhauser Airways in Waterloo from 1996 to 1999. He was a member of Hope City Church in Waterloo.

Les loved his family including his Hope City Church family.

He is survived by his wife of Cedar Falls; seven daughters: Krista (Rob Hool) Lee of Waverly, Alesha (Dustin) Kellum of Parkersburg, Angela (Mark) Sottile of Oakdale, MN, Sara (Kevin) Kehe of Denver, Jessica Dempster of Fort Collins, CO, Kayla Dempster of Colorado Springs, CO, and Samantha (Kade Berry) Dempster of Cedar Falls; three sons: Cody Dempster of Mason City, Andrew Dempster of Cedar Falls and Alex Dempster of Waterloo; eleven grandchildren; and a sister, Carol (Merrill) Oster of Aurora, IL.

Les was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Donna McCullough; and two grandsons.

No services are planned at this time. Richardson Funeral Service is assisting the family.
