Biography--

James C. Eckhoff, age 87 of Waterloo, Iowa, died Friday, May 26, 2017 at ManorCare Health Services.

He was born September 3, 1929 in Floyd County, Iowa, the son of Allerd and Mabel Carpenter Eckhoff and attended Nashua Schools. James was united in marriage with Elaine Meyer on February 25, 1962 in Mason City, Iowa.

Following their marriage, Elaine and James made their home near Charles City where they farmed and milked cows for several years. James worked for John Deere & Co. for 25 years in the shipping department, retiring in 1991. He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include his wife, Elaine of Waterloo; a sister, Rose Beier of Waterloo; a brother-in-law and 2 sisters-in-law and their spouses and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Amos and Raymond; three sisters: Nellie in infancy, Thelma Deike and Ruth Steere.
