Biography--

Alice J. Baumgartner, age 77, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, died on Monday, May 29, 2017, at NewAldaya Lifescapes in Cedar Falls.

She was born on April 30, 1940 in rural Marengo, Iowa; the daughter of Henry Herman and Helen Gertrude (Punke) Haman. She graduated from Marengo High School in 1958; she attended Iowa State Teacher’s College and later, graduated from University of Northern Iowa.

Alice married Edward Baumgartner; he preceded her in death on January 31, 1998.

She worked at Rath Packing Co. for several years until the plant closed; she later worked in human resources at Allen Hospital. Alice was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church and sang in the choir.

Alice is survived by a brother, Al (Eileen) Haman of Versailles, KY; a sister, Eleanor (Bill) Pivonka of Spokane, WA; three nephews: Jason Haman, Lee Pivonka, and Steve Pivonka; and a niece, Michele Haman and her husband, Bill McGowan.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Edward.
