Biography--

John W. "Bill" Sinnott, 85, of Waterloo, died at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home, Wednesday, May 3, 2017.

Bill was born June 9, 1931, in Randalia, Iowa, son of Lawrence and Luceal Bahl Sinnott. He married Kathleen M. Sadler September 26, 1953, in Raymond, Iowa.

Bill graduated from Sacred Heart in 1949 and Gates Business College. He served in the U.S. Army with 187th Airborne in Korea during the Korean Conflict. He had worked as the General Manager of the Waterloo White Sox baseball club, Managing General Agent in Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, and in 1960 became partner in Bachtell–Sinnott Agency, later the The Sinnott Agency, Inc.

He was a past president of Sunnyside Country Club and past Exalted Ruler of Waterloo Elks #290, as well as serving on many community boards and committees.

Bill is survived by his wife, Kathy; son, Steven of Waterloo; daughter, Julie (Mike) Hodge of Iowa City; son, Daniel of Waterloo; son, Thomas (Tina) of Waterloo; twelve grandchildren: Abbey (Matthew) Bries of Waterloo, Kate (Allan Martinez Venegas) Sinnott of Washington, DC, Sarah Sinnott of Ontario, Emma Sinnott of St. Paul, Jessica (James) Reid of Winter Garden, Emily (Zach) Hammes of North Liberty, Molly (Tim) Davin of Hills, Andrew (Jessica) Hodge of North Liberty, Ashlee Sinnott of Waterloo, Karlee Sinnott of Waterloo, Anna Sinnott of Waterloo, Benjamin Sinnott of Waterloo and seven great-grandchildren: Jacob and Noah Bries, Caleb and Noah Reid, Isaac and Isabelle Hammes, and Remley Davin.

He is preceded in death by his parents, son, Brian, step father, Walter Melohn, and brother, Richard Sinnott
