Obituary for Peggy L. Mathenia

Peggy L. Mathenia, 58, of Waterloo, Iowa, died Monday, April 24, 2017, at home.

She was born October 8, 1958, in Omaha, Nebraska, the daughter of Orville and Edith Ash Aken. She married Paul Mathenia on April 16, 1976 in Huntsville, Alabama.

Survivors include her husband of 41 years; three sons: Aaron Mathenia, Scott (Jacquie) Mathenia and Dustin (Lucynthia) Mathenia, all of Waterloo; 16 grandchildren; a great-granddaughter on the way; a brother, Mark Aken of Nebraska; and two sisters, Alice Pritzl and Sally Linke, both of Nebraska.

She was preceded in death by two grandchildren, William in 2000 and Haley in 2001; her parents; a brother, Orville; and a sister, Silvia Shapcott.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Public visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday and for an hour before services on Monday at the funeral home.
