Obituary for Andrew J. Doyle

Andrew J. “Andy” Doyle, 67, of Waterloo, Iowa, died Saturday, June 3, 2017, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo.

He was born June 20, 1949 in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Joseph and Marcella Welbes Doyle. He married Christine Laundry on August 1, 1975 in Waterloo. They were later divorced. He later married Marianne Watters on June 8, 2002 in Waterloo.

Andy received his B A from the University of Iowa and his M A in Phycology and Counseling from the University of Northern Iowa. He was a Social Studies and American History Teacher with the Waterloo Community Schools for 33 years, retiring in 2004. He was active with A.A. and volunteered with Horizons Chemical Dependency Program.

Survivors include his wife; three sons: Christopher (Jamie) Doyle of Boston,
Massachusetts and Matthew (Ashley) Doyle and David (Maria) Doyle, both of Dallas, Texas; a step-son, Mikel (Louann Hill) Woody of Waterloo; a step-daughter, Kimberly (Artie) White of Chicago; six grandchildren: Makenna Doyle, Caden Doyle, Alex Luloff, Wolfgang White and Logan Doyle; his mother of Waterloo; a brother, Joseph (Beverly Whittle) Doyle of Waterloo; a sister, Kathleen (Randy) Brown of Waterloo; and a sister-in-law, Christine Fredrickson Doyle of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

He was preceded in death by his father; a brother, Patrick Doyle; and a sister, Ellen Doyle.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity American Lutheran Church with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway and at the church for an hour before services on Wednesday.
