Mildred Ann Blonigan was born July 24, 1921 in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of Walter and Dora (Weideman) Degelau. She graduated from Waterloo East High School with the class of 1939. Mildred was united in marriage to Dale Blonigan on December 15, 1939 in Independence, Iowa; he preceded her in death on September 20, 1989.

She worked as a waitress at the Electric Park Ballroom Tavern on the Green. Mildred then worked at Waterloo Register until their closing. She retired from the Waterloo Schools from the food service, in the bakery. Mildred treasured time with her children and cherished her grandchildren. Mildred enjoyed crocheting and cross-stitching. She loved bowling and playing cards, and belonged to a monthly card club.

Mildred passed away on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at Unity Point Health – Allen Memorial at the age of 95.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband a grandson Jacob Scott Martin and a brother Harold Degelau.

Mildred is survived by two sons, Gary (Karin) Blonigan of Waterloo and James (Susan) Blonigan of Evansdale; three daughters: Sandra (Kenneth) Martin of Bettendorf Judy Gray of Dunkerton and Bonnie (Bruce) Buhrow of Denver; 11 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and by ten great-great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be directed to Immanuel Lutheran Church, Denver Sunset Home or Unity Point Hospice.
