John Allen Lundy was born July 6, 1940, in Savanna, Illinois, son of Hugh and Viona (Foster) Lundy. He was raised on the family farm and graduated from Savanna High School. John was introduced to Sharon Stice who was visiting her cousin who lived in the Savanna area. They were married in August 1959 and had five children together. John moved to Elk Run Heights in 1964 for his job with Rath Packing Plant and was later joined by Sharon and their children. The couple later divorced.

John drove truck all of his life, moving from Rath to Wal-mart. John’s handle began as “Lead Foot” but later changed to “Windy”, which are both self-explanatory to anybody who knew and loved him. He was known for being social and having a love for life, friends and family. In October of 1996, John was married to Josephine “Jody” Drew. They were an energetic, colorful couple until Jody’s death on November 30, 2015. John’s favorite past-time was mowing lawns with his beloved John Deere mower!

John passed away on Friday, February 17, 2017, at the Cedar Valley Hospice home at the age of 76 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jody; brothers, Ed Lundy and Ron Lundy; and a grandson, Sean Lundy.

John is survived by his sons: John (Kristi) Lundy of Elk Run Heights, Joe Lundy of Spring Lake Park, MN, Charles Amsbary of Cedar Falls, Arthur (Amy) Amsbary of Cedar Falls, and Ron Lundy of Waterloo; his daughters: Kathy Wagner of Waterloo, Deb (Chris) Rummans of Jesup, and Carrie Amsbary of Cedar Falls; his brother, Tom (Priscilla) Lundy of Savanna, IL; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren with 2 more great-grandchildren on the way; and many nieces and nephews.
