Biography--

Joy Ruth Hill, 76, of Grundy Center, died at home on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 of natural causes.

She was born on September 13, 1939 in Harcourt, Iowa, daughter of Jerry M. and Helen O. (Voss) Walgren. Joy graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1957. She married Martin “Marty” Lewis Hill, Sr., on November 24, 1958 in Waterloo. Joy was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband of Grundy Center, Iowa; a son, Martin Hill, Jr. of Grundy Center; a daughter, Cynthia (Jerry) Hill‑Severs of Burlington; by three grandchildren: CoraLana Hill-Schwartz of Burlington, April (Rory) McVay of Cedar Falls, and Cody Grimes of Cedar Falls; by four great-grandchildren: Louis McVay, Trinity Ellsworth, Ian McVay, and Kaylee McVay; and by two sisters, Jackie (Rudy) Newhoff of Waterloo and Kathy Church of Wisconsin.

Joy was preceded in death by: her parents; her stepfather, Harold Heidemann; three sisters: Jan Napier, Jean Walgren, and Jill Walgren, in infancy.
