Services:
Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at Kearns Funeral Service Kimball Chapel, 3146 Kimball Avenue in Waterloo.

Visitation:
Monday, August 8 and an hour prior to the services on Tuesday, all at the Funeral Home.

Cemetery:
Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery with Full Military Honors accorded by Waterloo AMVETS Post 19, Evansdale AMVETS Post 31 and the US Air Force Honors Detail.

Biography--

Vern L. Dietz, age 78, of Waterloo, Iowa, died Thursday, August 4, 2016, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home of complications of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

He was born February 8, 1938, in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Vernon and Viva (Cameron) Dietz. Vern was united in marriage with Donna R. Norte on September 11, 1959 in Rockford, Illinois. He was a veteran of the US Air Force.

Vern worked as a fork lift driver and piece worker at John Deere and Co. for 32 years, retiring in 1992. Following his retirement, he worked for Bertch Cabinet Co. for over 10 years. Vern loved the outdoors, especially fishing. He enjoyed crafts and was a talented woodworker.

Survivors include his wife, Donna of Waterloo; a son, Marvin (Annette) Dietz of San Diego, CA and a daughter, Debbie (Tim) Apling of Washburn, Iowa; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren; a sister, Vickie Mayer of Florida; and a brother, Veryl (Rosie) Dietz of Waterloo.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jeffery Dietz; and a sister, Verna Dean Alex.
