Thursday, August 25, 2016 at Central Christian Church, 3475 Kimball Ave., Waterloo.

Visitation:
Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at Kearns Funeral Service Kimball Chapel: 3146 Kimball Ave, Waterloo; and for one hour prior to the services Thursday at the church.

Cemetery:
Garden of Memories Cemetery, Waterloo; Military rites will be given by Waterloo AMVETS Post 19 and Evansdale AMVETS Post 31 and the Iowa Army National Guard Funeral Honors Detail.

Biography--

Ivan E. Chipp, 70, of Evansdale, Iowa, and formerly of Des Moines, Iowa, died August 19, 2016.

He was born May 2, 1946, in Osceola, Iowa; the son of Lewis Ivan and Jenita (Handley) Chipp. He married Patricia “Pat” Ellis on September 23, 1967 at Church of the Nazarene in Waterloo.

Ivan attended Des Moines area schools. He served for the U.S. Army during Vietnam 1964 until his honorable discharge.

Ivan worked for Argabright Plumbing and Heating, Steamfitters Local, and University of Northern Iowa Plant Services Department, retiring on May 2, 2008. He was a former member of Waterloo Masonic Lodge No. 105.

Survivors include his wife Patricia of Evansdale, Iowa; son, Lewis (Shelley) Chipp of Waterloo; daughter: Tina Chipp of Dunkerton; son, William (Nicol) Chipp of Evansdale; daughter, Casey Chipp of Evansdale; seven grandchildren: John Nosko, Brandon Chipp, Brennen Chipp, Taylor Chipp, Montana Ellis, Zachary Johnson, Kimberly Dolan; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Donna (Brian) King of Des Moines and Jenita Chipp of Winterset; three brothers: Rick (Carla) Chipp of Des Moines, Larry (Liz) Chipp of Winterset, and Dick (Jackie) Chipp of Altoona.

Ivan was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Terry Chipp; and by his sister, Martina Wilcox.
