Visitation:
Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at Kearns Funeral Service Kimball Chapel, 3146 Kimball Avenue in Waterloo and an hour prior to the services on Wednesday at the church.

Biography--

Terry L. Raitt, age 74, of Evansdale, Iowa, went home to be with Jesus on Thursday, September 29, 2016.

He entered this world on January 31, 1942 at the Vinton, Iowa home of his parents, Louis and Maxine Evans Raitt. Terry began his education in the Vinton School District and graduated from Washington High School with the Class of 1961. He married Sherry Kiesel on October 4, 1964 in the EUB Church in Vinton.

Terry began working at a young age shoveling snow, mowing lawns and delivering the newspaper. He learned masonry skills from his grandfather Jack Raitt and with his father in the family business, Raitt Construction. He was hired at John Deere in 1963 and held numerous positions. For many years he was a cab assembler at the northeast site until ill health forced his retirement in 1981. He was a proud member of the brotherhood of U.A.W. Local 838.

Terry, Sherry and Chela were baptized in the First Brethren Church in Cedar Falls where Terry served as groundskeeper, Sunday school and Vacation Bible school teacher. Terry and Sherry later became members of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Evansdale. Terry volunteered much of his time and all of his heart to the children of the Evansdale Youth Softball Association. He served as groundskeeper and official “gopher” for the organization from inception until ill health forced his retirement.

Christ blessed Terry with much family and many friends whom he loved without boundaries. He was loved as much as he loved.

Terry leaves behind his mother, Maxine Raitt of Vinton; his wife, Sherry and daughter Chela (Rob) Henry, all of Evansdale; a grandson, Michael Raitt-Peyton (Sarah Stiemel) of Waterloo; a granddaughter, Candace Ricketts (Aaron Sanders) of Evansdale; three beloved great-grandsons: Gavin Raitt-Peyton and Isaiah and Malakhi Ricketts; a brother, Tom (Heidi) Raitt of Illinois; a sister, Lynette (Doug) Brown of Cedar Rapids, IA; a brother-in-law, Larry Kiesel (Esther Rechkemmer) of Burlington, IA; two sisters-in-law, Pam (Craig) Petersen of Vinton, IA and Mary Swanger of Clutier, IA; a Godson, Cody (Jen) Burch of Des Moines, IA; ten nieces and nephews, and many great- and great-great- nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Louis Raitt; by three sisters-in-law" Marilyn Kiesel, Shirley Benfer and Ethel Kiesel; and a niece, Vicki Sholl.
