Biography--

Joyce L. Hilton, 82, of La Porte City, Iowa, died Wednesday, September 28, 2016, at her daughter’s home in St. Petersburg, Florida, after a six year battle against cancer.

Joyce was born on August 25, 1934, in Black Hawk County, Spring Creek Township, Iowa, the daughter of Carl and Donna (Murphy) Bonorden. She married George M. Hilton, Jr. at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa, on March 22, 1950. He preceded her in death on December 6, 1996.

Joyce was a clerk at Jack-n-Jill grocery store for 20 years and was an emergency services dispatcher for the La Porte City police and fire departments until her retirement in 1990.

She is survived by five children: Susan (Dean) Middagh, Sun City Center, Florida, Shirley Hilton, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Kenneth (Pam) Hilton, Red Wing, Minnesota, Gary (Lori) Hilton, Wichita, Kansas, and Mary (Robert White) Hilton, St Petersburg, Florida; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one sister, Marilyn Davis, La Porte City; and three sisters-in-law: Carole VanHorn, Vinton, Iowa, Anne Hilton, Santa Ana, California, and Jane Wood, Britt, Iowa.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, George (Jr.); daughter, Sandra Hilton; long-time friend and companion Fred Stenke; and two sisters, Phyllis Bonorden and Nadine Bruns.
