Biography--

Hayward Lee Mabry, age 77 of Waterloo, died Sunday, October 23, 2016 at Westbrook Acres Care Center in Gladbrook, Iowa.

He was born March 13, 1939 in Goodman, Mississippi, the son of Hayward and Mary (Boyd) Mabry. He was united in marriage with Teena Downer on November 20, 1965 in Waterloo.

Mr. Mabry worked for John Deere and Co. for 33 years, retiring in 1999. He was a member of Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church where he was an active member of the Trustee and Usher Boards. Hayward received a Certificate of Recognition for Father of the Year in 1988 by the Corinthian Baptist Church Brotherhood and a Certificate of Recognition from State Representative Deborah Berry for his 75th birthday.

Survivors include his wife, Teena of Waterloo; a daughter, Glenda Mabry of Waterloo; a son, Howard Mabry of Massachusetts; four grandchildren: LeTeena Mabry, Anisah Mabry, Nate Mabry-Ewell and Seanna Mabry; two great-grandchildren, Dakaiyya Mabry –Reed and Dakaiyya Mabry-Reed; four God daughters: DeQuayla Bruce, Ursula Bruce-Holmes, Precious Ellis and Robin Bruce-Turner; and two brothers, Trudy Mabry of St. Louis and John Mabry of Mississippi.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and five brothers: Eugene, Horace, Kasey, Lee Charles and Charlie Mac.
