Biography--

Theodore H. “Ted” Lobeck, age 84, of Rosewood Estates in Waterloo and formerly of Evansdale, died at home on October 25, 2016.

He was born on April 1, 1932 in Bremer County; the son of Hugo and Norma Kelling Lobeck.

He married Joanne M. Carr on September 25, 1955 in Waterloo; she preceded him in death on March 27, 2012. Ted earned his Associate of Science degree in Accounting from Gates Business College.

Ted was an accountant and the owner of Lobeck’s Tax Service in California; he later worked in the Purser’s office at University of Northern Iowa for over 8 years.

Ted served in the U.S. Army from 1952 until his honorable discharge in 1954.

Ted enjoyed traveling with Joanne and his annual fishing trips. He liked to build model cars and train sets, he enjoyed woodworking and would make anything from large silhouettes to miniature furniture.

Survivors include one son, Kevin (Linette) Lobeck of Cedar Falls; one daughter, Becky (Jack) Risner of Eagle, ID; three grandchildren, Jacob (Gina) Risner, Kyle (Adi) Risner, and Travis Risner; a great-grandson, Luke Risner; three sisters: Marilyn Deeds of Evansdale, Marlyn Neuendorf of Evansdale, and Mary (Ron) Kettwig of Evansdale; and two sisters-in-law, Beverly McCarter of California, and Delores Carr of New Hartford.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and by three brothers-in-law: Carl Deeds, Milton Neuendorf, and Harold Carr.
