Biography--

Kathryn “Kate” Elizabeth Caughron, age 92, of Waterloo, died Monday, March 27, 2017 at UnityPoint Health-Allen Hospital of natural causes.

She was born on May 19, 1925 in Waterloo; the daughter of William W. and Rose E. (Demory) McKee.

She married Charles Caughron on November 10, 1945 at the Salvation Army Citadel in Waterloo.

Kate attended Waterloo East High School. She was a homemaker, and worked for the Salvation Army in Peoria, IL and Waterloo.

Kate is survived by her husband; four sons, Stephen (Debbie) Caughron of Dike, Iowa, Rodney (Janice) Caughron of Lincoln, NE, Cliff (Jean) Caughron of Waterloo; and Jeff (Lisa) Caughron of Normal, IL; by a daughter, Lisa (Jeff) Martin of Des Moines; by 12 grandchildren: Christopher, Benjamin (Jessica), Brian (Angie), Neal (Anna), Katie (Austin), Lacey (Travis), Jillian, Derek, Kevin, Sarah, Katelyn, and Alyssa; 16 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rose Hoppes of Cedar Rapids and Hazel Posley of Florida; and a brother, James McKee of Livonia, MI.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Deborah; a grandson, Matthew; a brother, John McKee; and by two sisters, Velma LaPlount and Maude Acuff.
