WATERLOO, IOWA – Mary Ann Runge, 77, of Waterloo, died Saturday, July 2, 2016 at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo.

She was born December 7, 1938, in Blooming Prairie, Minnesota, daughter of Merle and Mary (Hawkins) Zierath. She married Jan Runge on April 23, 1960 in Waterloo. He died December 24, 1988.

She graduated from Waterloo West High School and worked in bookkeeping and clerical with Nelson and Hagy, Inc., retiring in 2006.

She is survived by two sons, Steve (Amber) Runge of Waverly, and Erik Runge of Waterloo; her mother, Mary Zierath of Waterloo; eight grandchildren: Hope, Haley, Chase, Caden, Kyle, Sean, Kaetlyn and Brandyn Runge; a great-granddaughter, Maci; two brothers, Butch (Jackie) Zierath of Las Vegas, NV, and Jim (Sue) Zierath of Parkersburg; and a sister, Terri (Mike) O’Leary of Riverside.

She was preceded in death by her father and a sister, Judy Mumm.

Private family services will be held. Richardson Funeral Service is assisting the family.
