Obituary for Lorraine E. England

May 25, 1921 - November 3, 2016

CEDAR FALLS, IOWA – Lorraine E. England, 95, of Cedar Falls died Thursday, November 3, 2016, at Pinnacle Specialty Care in Cedar Falls.

She was born May 25, 1921 in Nashua, Iowa, the daughter of Lyle and Elsie Marie (Grapp) Shields. She married Charles B. England on June 11, 1938, and they later divorced.

She was employed as a live-in housekeeper for the Archdiocese of Dubuque for over 30 plus years, the last 22 years for Fr. Mike Mescher, retiring in 2016.

Survived by: two daughters, Kathie Michel (Ralph Greenwood) of Cedar Falls and Karen (John) Sewick of Hudson; 10 grandchildren; 17 great- grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Betty Brown of Waterloo and Gertrude Sullivan of Sierra Vista, AZ and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by: a daughter, Bonnie Bonorden; a son-in-law Dennis Michel; a grandson, Robert Sewick; three brothers, Edward, Edgar and Eugene Shields; and a sister, Lu Erwin.

Services: 1:30 p.m. Monday at Richardson Funeral Service with burial in Hillside Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Visitation from 11:30 a.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Bend Humane Society, Tama County Humane Society or donor’s choice.

Lorraine loved her family and her dogs with her whole heart.
