January 18, 1932 - October 29, 2016

CEDAR FALLS, IOWA - June Elaine Blanford, 84, of Cedar Falls, died Saturday, October 29, 2016 at NewAldaya Lifescapes.

She was born January 18, 1932, in Cedar Falls, the daughter of Alfred and Bodil Schmitz Marcussen. She married Toby Madison Blanford December 31, 1954 in Iowa City. He died February 28, 1971.

June graduated from Cedar Falls High School and received her RN degree from Mount Mercy and worked as a surgical nurse. She then received her Physician’s Assistant license from the University of Iowa working at Medical Associates and Covenant Medical Center, both in Waterloo.

June is survived by two sons, Mark (Vivian) of Hillsboro, OR and Todd (Juline) of Cedar Falls; a daughter, Mona (Bruce) Deming of Sun Prairie, WI; nine grandchildren: Thomas (Allison), Samuel, and Anna Blanford, Mira and Kira Deming, and Elizabeth (Michael) Simmons and Rebecca (Jeremy) Blanford, and Branden and Jason Keller; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ethel (Jerry) Gallager of Bartlett, TN and Evelyn Hatch of Pearblossom, CA; a brother, Dick (Janene) Marcussen of Cedar Falls; and sister-in-law, JoDell Marcussen of Waverly.

She was preceded in death by three brothers: Earl, Bob and Glenn Marcussen; and grandson, Mark A. Blanford.

Services are Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, with inurnment in the Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls.
