April 3, 1919 - November 27, 2016

WATERLOO, IOWA – Elizabeth “Bette” Anderson, 97, of Waterloo died Sunday, November 27, 2016 at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo.

She was born April 3, 1919, in Waterloo, daughter of Edwin R. and Clara (Appel) Aschenbrenner. She married Ralph Anderson on October 11, 1946 in Waterloo. He died June 7, 1960.

She graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1936 and Gates Business College. She worked in clerical and bookkeeping at Investors Syndicate, Waterloo Steel and Equipment and Waterloo Public Schools, retiring in 1987.

Bette is survived by two daughters, Barbara Anderson and Jane Anderson, both of Schaumburg, IL; four nephews, James (Lois) Hamer of Traer, Dennis (Kathy) Hamer of Dike, Tim (Connie) Hamer of Mulvane, KS, and Ted (Linda) Hamer of Traer; two nieces, Beverly (Bruce) Nelson of Waterloo and Celeste (Sean) Coy of Burnsville, MN; and many grand nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy (Thomas) Hamer.

Services: Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waterloo. Private family interment will be in Garden of Memories, Waterloo, prior to the service. Visitation Thursday at Richardson Funeral Service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice or the church.
