CEDAR FALLS – Marjorie M. Kelting, 94, of Cedar Falls died Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at the Western Home Communities Elizabeth E. Martin Health Center, Cedar Falls.

She was born May 21, 1922, in Jewell, Iowa, daughter of Henry and Jennie (Christensen) Johnson. She married Kenneth Kelting on September 28, 1946 in Webster City, Iowa. He died December 23, 2001.

She graduated from Williams High School and played semi-professional basketball out of Des Moines playing around the country, worked in an ammunition factory during World War II, then at the Pentagon in Washington DC, raised her family and then went to work for Medical Associates in Cedar Falls as a receptionist, retiring in 1988.

Marjorie is survived by two sons, K.O. Kelting of Cedar Falls and John (Nancy) Kelting of Waterloo; a daughter, Kelly Kelting of Clear Lake and one brother, Robert (Geri) Johnson of Spokane, Wash.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Eileen Hames and Darlene Kelting; and a brother, Daryl Johnson.

Services: Wednesday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Cedar Falls, with burial in Williams Township Cemetery, Williams, Iowa. Visitation from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at Richardson Funeral Service, Cedar Falls.

Memorials may be directed to Opportunity Village (P.O. Box 622, Clear Lake, IA 50428), St. Patrick Catholic Church, or the Western Home Foundation.

Marge was devoted to her special needs daughter. A special thank you for the compassionate care provided by the Western Home and their staff and dear friend of over 60 years Marilyn Bruce.
