William F. "Willie" Brocka

May 2, 1937 - January 26, 2017

JANESVILLE, IOWA – William F. “Willie” Brocka, 79, of Janesville, died Thursday, January 26, 2017 at his home.

He was born May 2, 1937 in Waterloo, son of Harvey and Dorothy Pothast Brocka. Following his father’s death, he was raised by his mother and stepfather, Henry Kugel. He married Darlyne M. Boyer on November 15, 1959 at First United Methodist Church in Cedar Falls. She died March 22, 2009.

He served in the United States Army and was a supervisor with John Deere and taught Quality Training at Hawkeye Tech. He served as Past Commander of Janesville American Legion Post 522 and was a founding member of the Waverly Water Ski Club, participating as a tournament and show skier.

Willie loved attending the 4th Street Cruise with his friends, was a member of the Studebaker Club and loved Hot Rods! The last 18 winters were spent in Florida among very special Florida friends and family. He loved attending his kids’ and grandkids’ events of any kind and made sure they knew how much they were loved.

He is survived by a daughter, Wendy (Dan) Brace of Janesville; two sons, Blane Brocka of Janesville and Dustin (Shannon) Brocka of Cedar Falls; six grandchildren: Tyler, Luke and Natalie Brace, Colin, Kaitlyn and Alyson Brocka; special friend, Rosie Thompson of Waterloo; two sisters, Tangy Wormley of Parkersburg and Tammy (Jim) Ernst of Alamo Gordo, NM; four brothers: Hank (Judy) Kugel of Yuma, AZ, Eddie (Connie) Kugel of New Hartford, Jim (Pam) Kugel of Fayetteville, AR, and John (Ruth) Kugel of Madrid, IA; mother-in-law, Ruth Maye Hamilton; two sisters-in-law, Jan Guzman of Waterloo and Geri (Gail) Aikey of Charles City; three half brothers-in-law: Greg, Larry and Jim Boyer; several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

William was preceded in death by his parents; step father; four brothers: Don and Everett Brocka, Dick and Kenny Kugel.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Janesville Riviera Roose Community Center with burial in Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens, Cedar Falls. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Richardson Funeral Service, Cedar Falls, and also for one hour prior to the service in Janesville.

Memorials may be directed to the National Kidney Foundation or the Janesville American Legion Post 522.
