Biography--

Janice F. Woodman, “Jan,” 79, of Hudson, Iowa, died Thursday, April 6, 2017, at University Hospitals in Iowa City.

She was born on January 20, 1938, in Clarksville, daughter of Viola Genevieve Klunder and stepfather, Hank Ahrens. Jan was a true American Patriot and was proud to be born on Inauguration Day.

Jan graduated from Nashua/Plainfield High School in 1955. She then graduated from St. Luke's Methodist Hospital School of Nursing, prior to marrying her one true love, Charles “Chuck” Woodman, on March 2, 1958 in Clarksville, Iowa. Jan was a devoted wife and friend to Chuck for 52 years, before his passing on January 10, 2013. Jan worked as an Emergency Room registered nurse at Allen Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa, for 54 years (1958-2012). Part of that tenure, Jan was Director of Nursing.

Jan was a member of United Methodist Church of Hudson, where she cherished serving as a Confirmation Mentor, in the Sack Lunch Ministry and Prayer Team. She loved being a part of the beautiful Red Hattitudes, dancing with her beloved Chuck in the Windmill Spinners Square Dance Club, and traveling with Chuck with the Gold Wing Road Riders Association. Jan loved being active gardening, water skiing, golfing, fishing and playing cards.

Jan's greatest loves were Jesus Christ, Chuck, her three sons, eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Jan was her grandchildren's greatest fan, attending every one of their life events, if possible. Jan was also a spiritual Grandma to many other children outside her own family.

Jan is survived by her three sons: Scott (Susan) of Eldora, Iowa, Steve (Jackie) of Traer, Iowa, and Stuart (Nalinee) of Thailand; eight grandchildren: Thomas (Heather), Brad (Ashley), David (Jill), Benjamin, Peter, Peyton, Charley Jo and Pimchanok; and four great grandchildren: Logan, Naomi, Lydia and Lainey.

Preceded in death by her husband, Chuck; brother, Thomas Ahrens; and daughter-in-law, Susan Jo Woodman.
