Biography--

Norma Jean Callies, 87, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, died at the Cedar Falls Health Care Center on Thursday, April 6, 2017.

She was born November 5, 1929 in Waterloo, Iowa, daughter of Harold and Violet LaToure Poyner. She grew up in La Porte City where she graduated from high school in 1948. She enjoyed singing and was the school’s first majorette. It was there that she met Alfred Junior Pierce and they were married on December 19, 1948 and four children were born to them. They later divorced.

She married Dale K. Callies on June 23, 1979 in Waterloo. They enjoyed touring the United States on their Harley Davidson. Dale died August 19, 2009.

She began working at her parents' restaurant, "Home Quality Cafe" in La Porte City at the age of 8. Norma retired as the office manager for Dale's Towing in 1987. She was a member of Kimball Ave. United Methodist Church. Norma was a Christian and follower of Jesus Christ. As the time drew near for her to pass, she was at peace and excited about going to heaven and meeting Jesus, her Savior, face to face.

Survivors: son, Michael (Vickie) Pierce of Ringold, Georgia; daughter, Victoria (Todd) Hunemuller of New Hartford, Iowa; son, Kirk (Kathy) Pierce of Pinckneyville, Illinois; son, Jamey (Alexis) Pierce of Des Moines, Iowa; eight grandchildren: Brandon (Kelly) Pierce, Betsy (Jason) Williford; Lucy (Blake) Eisenhauer , Delaney Pierce, Vanessa Pierce, Kyle (Amber) Pierce and Benjamin (Lisa) Hawk and Jett Pierce and numerous step-, great- and step-great-grandchildren.
